Die Before You Die

When we look at how nonduality and Native spirituality fit together, it’s the mystical that ties it together. Everything in existence is this vast unity. The human brain, the human mind, has an enormous capacity to see and be the mystical. We’ve been doing it since we became human.

The mystical is where all Traditions meet. When we talk about how they’re all teaching the same thing, it’s this connection that’s being taught.

Die Before You Die

Die before you die is a Sufi teaching that has more to do with life than it does with death. The teaching “Die before you die,” is more about how to live than it is about actually physically dying. This is a teaching that is also present in Buddhism, and if you do some research, you’ll find that there’s a lot of Christian commentary on this as well. …

Unselfish Motivation

Most important in the process of finding out who you are: do it with the most unselfish motivation possible. You’re trying to find how you blend in with all of reality, and all the rest of us really do exist. You really do exist. Know that this is not just about you. This is about everything and everyone else.

— What you do matters —

A funny little detail about nonduality, the nondual search, is that you are the one who is searching and you’re searching for yourself. So, if this is the case, we need to do this within a field of togetherness with all humanity. We need to have a basic unselfish motivation in order to do this; otherwise, it turns into a nightmare of narcissistic thought.

Total Unity

It’s also possible to find out who you are using the idea of total unity. Everything exists. That exists, you are that. A tree? You’re not really separate from it. Your thoughts? You are not separate from that. Your emotions? They happen within you, with you. You are everything. You’re the sky, you’re the Earth, you’re all the other people, you’re your anger, you’re your love. All these things, eventually, it all melds into one vast complex of unity that is you.

— Nonduality Leads to Unity —

Nonduality practices, teachings do eventually lead us to a place of unity, to a place of oneness. This is a point that many, many people overlook because they get stuck on the ‘not two,’ on the subtracting everything from the world. But once you’re down to realizing that nothing exists separate from you… then you know you actually exist, the world exists, everything out in the world exists. That is the point where you start bringing everything in: ‘Oh, I am this, I am that.’

6 Ways to Non Dual: Adding

Today, we’re talking about adding. This is actually very advanced non-dual studies. If you went into a monastery and lived there for years and years, at first, you would start with the regular non-dual exercises. The “Not Two” exercises we talked about in the last video. Not two is a process where you’re erasing all …
