Why is Awakening Difficult

Listen to this conversation between Zareen and spiritual teacher Susanne Marie as we talk and laugh about awakening. How to drop the conditions of unenlightenment.

Nonduality is Not Two

The question is: Why is awakening difficult? Why do people think it’s difficult?

Be honest as much as possible, truthful. be truthful.
It’s not like we’re meant to be an open book to everybody. But just be truthful in life be truthful to yourself. Don’t betray yourself, don’t lie to yourself. Try to be truthful in life and it really serves to come into alignment with what’s true.

Nonduality is Not Two

Nonduality is not two. That’s what advaita means—not two. It is a handy little trick to find your unity.

And even just in saying that sentence, you can see why the idea of not two is way better than saying find your unity. Because when I say find your unity, I’ve just turned you into two different things. I’ve turned you into you and the unity you are trying to find.

Well, maybe I’ve turned you into three things—first there’s you, then the one that’s trying to find something, and then the thing that it’s trying to find.

We habitually divide our lives into all these things, and nonduality is about just, as often as possible, taking a pause from that. You are not two. There are not two of you. There’s there’s just one.

And you can’t say anything at that point—all words have to stop when you’re realizing the unity that is not two. Reside in that place as often as possible, and the life that’s within will come bubbling up and will become the most awake part of you.

See? I just did it again. Words are useless—part of you. See? I just divided you into parts.

Maybe I should just do a whole video where I’m just saying not two, not two, not two. And nothing else. Probably wouldn’t be very good for watching. That would be really, really boring. But that’s what’s so fun about nonduality—because anything you say, you can undo.

It’s not that.

So, hey, have fun.
